Francisco Horta e Vale first discovered Design before he really knew what he was getting himself into.
From very early on, he soon developed a strong will to find solutions, to handle tools and to represent in design the things that he would one day wish to see done.
A student of sciences and on his way to his 4th year of Civil Engineering at the University of Coimbra, he found himself in limbo, trying to choose between what would allow him to survive in this world and what would make him truly happy.
At the age of 22, he swapped engineering for Design and decided to be happy.
His works often represent a combination of these two fields, where the logic of science and physics meet with the creative and imaginative world of Art and Design.
The works represented in this portfolio are a small sample of what has been done so far.
Aside from Design, Francisco Horta e Vale has also spent a successful 20 years in the music industry. Having fallen in love with alternative music, he founded and became the drummer of the band ‘Fitacola’ which has been running for 18 years, touring with concerts on all over the country.
He has stepped on stages such as the ‘Coliseu dos Recreios’, the ‘Ritz’ and the ‘Santiago Alquimista, all in Lisbon, along with the ‘Hardclub’ in Porto as well as the diverse stage at the ‘Queima das Fitas’ in large cities all across Portugal such as Coimbra, Porto, Aveiro and also in Covilhã and Guarda, amongst many others.
